Life After China

It’s been over a year since I’ve returned from China. My Restless Feet led me back to Toronto and I’ve decided to stay for awhile. It definitely wasn’t an easy decision, especially since coming home I had no intentions on staying for longer than a few months. My initial plan was to stay for a few months, find another teaching job abroad and continue to travel the world with my restless feet.

So why did I decide to stay? Well for a few reasons. One of the reasons was because I decided to go back to school, that was a huge decision seeing that I’ve already completed post-secondary education. I knew that returning back to school was going to feel like I was taking a step backwards but I do believe me making the decision to continue to educate myself will have a great impact while I immerse myself in the education system again and in the future. I’ve already seen the changes in the way I think, I’ve become a much more critical thinker and a lot more empathetic towards certain things that I come across in my everyday life. The second reason was because I met the one person that makes me laugh and loves me like no one ever has, Brendan. The third reason is because of my grandmother. I’ve lived with my grandmother ever since I was 15 years old, and coming home reminded me that she is not getting any younger. She the reason why I am able to travel as much as I do. The sacrifices that she has made throughout her life is why I am here today and if that means slowing down my restless feet to spend more time with her and help out where I can then that’s what I’m going to do.

With that being said, please know that my restless feet have not been permanently planted, they’ll just be moving a little slower for now. If you’ve made it this far in my post, thank you. Please look out for my next international adventure in the next few weeks. I’m super excited to share it with you guys!

Stay restless my friends!
