Girls Trip! Dominican Republic

When my girls and I plan a trip the conversation usually goes like this:

Kaila: yo, lets go on a trip

Nardia: okay, when?

Kaila: I don’t know, asap.

Nardia: kk, lets tell Joanne and Natalie

Once we figured all the girls were on board we decided to take walk into a Flight Centre so that we could get some help narrowing down our options. The girls suggested Panama, Dominican Republic, Honduras or Costa Rica. We took a look at our budget, accommodations and finally narrowed it down to Dominican Republic. They took our credit card information and wam-bam-thank you ma’am our tickets and receipts were e-mailed to us and next month we we’re at Pearson Airport waiting for our flight to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.

The hotel we stayed at was The VH Gran Ventana. We landed late at night so by the time we arrived we got a bite to eat, took a shower, got ready and went downstairs to see some of the entertainment. The next day we went for the buffet style breakfast and headed straight to the pool and beach. It was very convenient that our room was so close to the beach.

We had made friends with one of the other tourists staying at our resort who said he had a friend who is a local but he speaks english because he had previously lived in New York. He mentioned that if we gave him some gas money and bought him a beer or two he would bring us out on then town to experience more of Puerto Plata. His name was George and he brought us to Sosua Beach which was a 10 minute drive from our resort. Sosua Beach was a beautiful beach filled with brown sand and cute little shops owned by the locals.

Most all-inclusive hotels have a section where you can sign up for tours. Many people suggest to sign up for tours using the hotels services and not the stalls on the street or plaza because many of the private tours do not offer insurance or they might be scams. We decided to go with the Monkey Jungle and Zip Line Adventure tour which was absolutely a 10/10. IMG_2993 IMG_3033 IMG_3059

The rest of our trip included a trip to 27 waterfalls, dancing the night away and enjoying each other’s company while making friends who I know will be in my life for a very long time.

The next time I go to the Dominican Republic I would love to visit Punta Cana and Santo Domingo.

Have any of you guys been to the Dominican Republic? Let me know about your experience!
